Principles of Knowledge Management

Principles of Knowledge Management professionals possess an understanding of theoretical and technical concepts, models and tools used in the field. Specifically how to to identify, capture, and codify information turning tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge. In doing so converting these resources into a formal and reusable construct that allows organizations to focus on growth and innovation through sharing and applying knowledge while remembering and documenting lessons learned creating an organizational memory. The specific skills obtained are dependent on courses selected from the available options.

Requirements include completion of three credit-bearing courses (9 credits) from a pre-defined list offered at Syracuse University. The badge may be earned as a stand-alone credential or within a credit-bearing degree, certificate, or minor program.

  • KNM 301 - Introduction to Knowledge Management (required prereq course for all other KNM courses)

  • KNM 310 – Knowledge Capture and Codification

  • KNM 311 – Safeguarding Knowledge Management and Codification Data

  • KNM 401 - Professional Issues in Knowledge Management

  • KNM 402 – Strategy and Planning

  • KNM 403 – Process Continuity and Future Planning
