Applications of Business Analytics

This advanced course builds on foundational business analytics skills, focusing on practical applications and real-world problem-solving. Students will learn the basics of PowerBI or a similar data visualization tool, explore the design and implementation of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines, and apply their knowledge in a capstone project with a live client. This hands-on approach equips students to tackle complete analytics challenges and deliver actionable insights. At specified intervals, participants will complete an evaluated assessment of their comprehension and applied knowledge of business analytics:

• Understand and evaluate how information technology incorporates hardware, software, people, and processes into “information systems” to create business efficiencies and value.

• Explain the many different ways business collect, and organize data so that data-backed analysis and development are possible.

• Identify and examine how data, information, knowledge, and analytics provide insight and/or forecasting into business operations and decision making.

This course is delivered by the Golisano Institute for Business and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the College of Professional Studies at Syracuse University.
