This course provides the principles of project management based on the primary principles of Project Management Institute (PMI)’s Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. At specified intervals, participants will complete an evaluated assessment of their comprehension and applied knowledge of the principles of project management:

• Describe and map project life cycles and identify resources, stakeholders, and tools needed at each stage.

• Consider estimated cost, time constraints and task dependencies in developing realistic project scopes and goals.

• Utilize relevant software for effective project management.

This course provides the principles of computing coding as it relates to analyzing data and determining the best use of that data to aid informed decision making as a foundation for future Business Analytics courses. At specified intervals, participants will complete an evaluated assessment of their comprehension and applied knowledge of the principles of coding:

• Explore and build executable computer programs to perform specific functions and tasks using basic coding functions.

• Examine and apply coding in the creation and use of software, operating systems, websites, and applications.

• Develop code to efficiently and accurately complete basic business analysis functions.

This course is delivered by the Golisano Institute for Business and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the College of Professional Studies at Syracuse University.

This advanced course builds on foundational business analytics skills, focusing on practical applications and real-world problem-solving. Students will learn the basics of PowerBI or a similar data visualization tool, explore the design and implementation of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines, and apply their knowledge in a capstone project with a live client. This hands-on approach equips students to tackle complete analytics challenges and deliver actionable insights. At specified intervals, participants will complete an evaluated assessment of their comprehension and applied knowledge of business analytics:

• Understand and evaluate how information technology incorporates hardware, software, people, and processes into “information systems” to create business efficiencies and value.

• Explain the many different ways business collect, and organize data so that data-backed analysis and development are possible.

• Identify and examine how data, information, knowledge, and analytics provide insight and/or forecasting into business operations and decision making.

This course advances your analytics skills by building and using artificial intelligence models to answer key business questions. This course focuses on transforming data into insights for strategic decision-making and customer understanding. At specified intervals, participants will complete an evaluated assessment of their comprehension and applied knowledge of data decision-making using AI:

• construct machine learning models to identify patterns and predict outcomes

  in a business context

• explain the different types of models, how to train and apply the models, and how to evaluate and select a model for a given business problem

• explain natural language processing, its application to business, and the mechanisms behind it

• discuss current trends in AI using a technically sophisticated lens
